司美格鲁肽是一种新型的长效胰高糖素样肽-1受体激动剂（glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist，GLP-1RA），其结构与天然的人胰高糖素样肽-1（glucagon-like peptide-1，GLP-1）相似，具有高达94%的氨基酸序列同源性，用于成人2型糖尿病患者的血糖控制。

2017年12月在美国获得批准上市，2021年4月中国批准上市，已经在50多个国家和地区获批应用。司美格鲁肽是第6个上市的GLP-1RA药物，是第3个每周1次的长效GLP-1RA类降糖药。司美格鲁肽通过GLP-1受体起作用，可选择性地结合并激活GLP-1受体，刺激胰岛素分泌和降低胰高血糖素分泌的机制来降低血糖，和传统的GLP-1RA比较，其半衰期延长至7d。

2024年6月，用于长期体重管理的胰高糖素样肽﹣1受体激动剂（GLP-1RA）周制剂司美格鲁肽（商品名：诺和盈）在中国大陆获批上市，用于在控制饮食和增加体力活动的基础上对成人患者的长期体重管理。11月17日，诺和诺德宣布诺和盈正式在中国上市。
